・リンパ節転移のない早期胃癌症例に対してendoscopic mucosal resection (EMR)が施行された場合，その1週間以内にearly stageのpost-EMR follow-upとして生検が行われることがある．そのような場合に一見すると癌と誤認するような病変，すなわちlacy architectural change, clear cell degeneration, signet-ring cell-like changeなどの所見に遭遇することがある（詳細は参考文献を参照のこと）．
・Reactive changeとresidual carcinomaの鑑別は時に困難なことがあるが，その場合はEMRされたoriginal carcinomaの像と生検像を比較することが大切である．（by 清水道生）
